When the realm of MagicDuel had dawned, it was much like a void.
It was like a void because, at first, it was empty and there was nothing to give it meaning, nothing to help it retain major events as treasured memories. The world of MagicDuel was akin to a newly born infant. It was empty and it was small, but it was also growing and it was peaceful.
But as with every child that grows up, things must change.
Beginning in year 3, day 90, a creature appeared that seemed as a novelty at first. But with the appearance of the Knator Commander in the realm, the Era of the Role Playing Character (RPC) had begun. In year 3, day 121, the very first Adventure Log had been posted: a hero is wanted. BigC would be that hero.
These two separate elements may have seemed insignificant at first, but when these elements combined, something magical happened. In the void that preceded these two events, players were incapable of influencing the realm from within, forced to abide by the creator’s will. BigC’s emergence as a hero, however, now signified the moment where players had grown to obtain powers, powers strong enough to affect change. And soon, other players would emerge and prove their worth. The change they would bring would be like nothing the realm had ever seen before.
For these players had feelings and these feelings were different from the creator’s, and from the realm. These feelings turned into thoughts, arguments, and desires. These, in turn, affected their choices. From their choices came their actions and their actions cascaded into each other and created something that the realm had never seen before.
As with any child that grows older, conflicts appear and innocence is lost.
War had clawed its way into the realm and ripped across the lands.
The first version of the Festival of War and Remembrance held all the wars, four in total, that had occurred in MD up to the moment of the Festival, or 22nd of June, Year 5. As well as all the legends as selected by Metal Bunny.
The purpose of the Festival is to educate, commemorate, and honor. It is not about glorifying or inciting and provoking war.
The first war ever in MagicDuel was a war between three lands.
Golemus Golemicarum and its war ally of Loreroot were at war with Necrovion. It was the first and longest war in the short span of MD’s life and it had two titanic legends face one another.
One was a fierce warrior, a hero to many, whose martial prowess was legendary and unmatched during his day. He was one of the first to enter the realm and was indeed the first to grow to such power, that others cowered in his presence.
The other was a great man, who was considered to be greater than a hero, perhaps even a god to some. While a newbie and outcast at first, and an enigma to some, he soon grew into his role and claimed power by charm and knowledge. Where he went, others quickly followed.
Where the first swore by the might of the sword, The other held true to the magic of the word.
The first was Wodin Ullr, the leader of the Guerrilla Golemicarum alliance, the other was Khalazdad, the leader of Necrovion's Sentinels alliance.
The possibility of this war stemmed from two different events. The first was in year 3, day 90. It was the day that the Knator Commander appeared in the realm; the Era of the RPC has begun.
The second event was in Year 3, day 121. It was the day that the Adventure Log started. A hero was wanted: BigC would be that hero.
The origin of this war however, came from a single choice that had irrevocable repercussions and unforeseen consequences.
Just two days after the Adventure Log had begun, the hero that was wanted was approached by the by then-unknown shades of Necrovion.
As was written in the AL: Page 2 [2008-05-04 22:06:38 - Golemus Wizard quest - Big.]
Shades have picked *BigC* to go on a mission in Golemus Golemicarum and stop the wizard from messing around with the dream world. However the first meeting didn't go so well, BigC is not sure whether to help the shades or just kill them...
The wrath of the shades is shown as they capture BigC and imprison him in Necrovion.
But the wizard was now aware of the shades, and he was preparing. The shades were preparing, as well, and had sent an assassin.
Page 64 [2008-05-22 02:59:29 - Golemus Wizard quest - Wod. Om.]
Still glowing, Wodin Ullr steps out of the morphing light. He looks at the dead wizard and at his killer and speaks to him: "Thank you; two souls were given to summon mine, from one I master the spirit and from one the body, now it's time to raise an army! " He steps outside the room and starts walking towards No Man's Land. Omegaweapon looks at him confused, realizing that this was part of the wizard's plan. "What have I done!"
The die had been cast, as the wizard had summoned Wodin Ullr, a mighty warrior without equal. He founded the first alliance of Golemus Golemicarum.
And in relative quick succession, new developments and events and their consequences rippled through the lands.
RPCs and their self-made quests, along with the newly introduced wishpoints, grew in stature, respect, and eventually, in power. They, in turn, attracted friends, and allies made pacts.
But Wodin Ullr had come and soon the interaction between GG and Necrovion turned more hostile by the day.
Attempts to prolong peace were present. Some tried to think about the shades’ nature and if perhaps war would be the wrong path to choose. Others said that the shades were powerless to begin with, and that if one could keep peace with the Necrovion Sentinels, the human servants to the shades, that peace could be kept.
But as loyal and strong as Wodin was, he was just as fierce and zealous,. And he could not ignore the cries for the freedom of BigC.
Khalazdad, himself, was an honorable man and would not budge from his masters, nor would he abandon his new-found family and valued friends.
The choices of the past were irrevocable. Alliances were made. The path was set.
War was inevitable.
At first there were a lot of border skirmishes and great animosity between the lands. But most people were still growing and learning. For instance, the current reigning monarch of Loreroot, King Firsanthalas, was send by Nelya Setesh to Golemus, to negotiate a treaty of non-aggression.
Most people who are grizzled veterans now, were newbies who joined barely before the war started, or even during the war.
After the treaty between Loreroot and Golemus, the situation started to slowly heat up. Khalazdad gained entrance into Necrovion for the first time. The master spy Glaistig infiltrated the Loreroot Alliance while in the service of Khalazdad
In times of fear, excitement, confusion, and constant border skirmishes, along with intricate espionage missions, war was officially declared. In the first few offenses, Loreroot quickly joined the side of Golemus against Necrovion.
As was written in the AL: Page 156 [2008-08-07 03:14:05 - The Shade Ballance - Kh.]
Khal enters the House of Liquid Dust, which is the date on which war was officially declared.
But many other developments had happened, as well. An angien was found in an egg by the new Seekers of Enlightenment alliance. Also, a masterful plot, prophesied by the messenger, eventually bore fruit as Dst, with the help of No One, successfully managed a coup on each and every alliance, creating massive confusion and chaos.
Amidst the chaos, the fear, the bewilderment, however, one theory was eventually proven to be correct. It had started innocently, with Wodin taking some free time. Even heroes needed rest. But soon enough, days of absence, turned into weeks. And soon it was official, after weeks of domestic disturbances and chaos inside the GG alliance, Wodin had left and the first triumvirate of the Golemus alliance assumed leadership. After Wodin left, the fighting spirit and power of Loreroot and especially Golemus died down. As a consequence, the shades themselves became weaker. Proving, for now, the theory that Necrovion acted like a mirror to the rest of MD. As GG and Loreroot grew weaker and became weary from months of hostilities, so, too, did the shades of Necrovion back down and weaken.
Before Wodin had left, GG was centralized around its leader, Wodin Ullr.
The Necrovion alliance was ruled in a similar way, with Khalazdad as its leader.
In Loreroot the primary figurehead of Loreroot was Nelya Setesh. But there was also a council that had a large influence, as well, along with Knator Commander, who occasionally gave advice.
Many new developments came after the disappearance of Wodin Ullr. The first Triumvirate of GG, consisting of Yrthilian, Savelfuser, and Metal Bunny, split up. Savelfuser dedicated himself to the new demi-god status of mp6, and to the protection and caring of Loreroot through his new church.
Metal Bunny dedicated himself to mp6 and concentrated more on being a better RPC, as well. As a result, he only gave advice to Yrthilian, who remained as the lone leader of the GG alliance. He managed to summon Wodin back to the lands of MD again, but he was not the same as he used to be. He had weakened, was confused and never rose to glory again.
Yrthilian however, signed a peace treaty with Necrovion and ended the war on the side of Golemus.
Peace had come and many things had changed, for better or worse.
While it is quite a certainty that the shades would’ve fought the experimenting wizard regardless of BigC’s choice to help them or not, it was the choice of the shades for asking a hero to help, that had brought war to the lands and inhabitants of MD for the first time. Before the war there were many events and legendary ‘firsts,’ even some fundamental ‘firsts,’ such as the first Adventure Log, that eventually lead up to the war. During the uneasy and shaky peace, filled with border skirmishes, and during the war itself, many things had happened as well.
But there were many events that were not related to the war itself. It could perhaps just be the Maker, continuing on his way, growing MD, unconcerned with the physical realm. RPCs arrived, wishpoints, too. New creatures were revealed, new ways to fight and new spells that belonged to the new caste of mp6.
Newbies arrived that grew to legends and faded away again, but not before they had influenced the realm and left their mark, while others stayed and kept growing.
The first war had left an impact on many and regardless of the ongoing growth of the world; things would never be the same again. Including the hostile situation before the official act of declaring war, the conflict had lasted months and dominated the events of Year 3.
The second war that came to be in the lands of MagicDuel was the war between the alliances of Golemus Guerilla and the MR Fraternity against all the alliances and guilds of Loreroot.
The Golemus Guerilla was led by Yrthilian, still in charge after Wodin had left. Greater Loreroot had multiple leaders and the council leading the different guilds and alliances. But there was one person who would turn out to be the crux of the war.
The situation, reasons, and causes leading up to the war were obscure and hidden for many.
The first reason was well known.

Public elections for Loreroot leadership!
.Raven. demands the Loreroot crown and wants to become Archon of Loreroot, leader of all Loreroot people, King of the land. As part of his election process, I am requesting a public reaction to this, especially from people with roles related to Loreroot. Please PM .Muratus del Mur. your opinions on this: PM subject should be in the form: (.Raven. - Loreroot King - YES/NO). Your detailed answers will matter a lot for this election and I will decide myself who of you has a stronger word to say about this. A forum reaction is also welcome. He needs to gather a majority of votes in his favor and no serious reasons against. Uncertainty in your answers will count as a negative vote. Info based on rumors you heard but never saw yourself will not be taken into consideration, and all voters will be responsible of their affirmations. Opinions and votes won't be made public!
Good luck.
Raven made a bid as ruler of all of Loreroot. The Archon of Loreroot would have had great powers over the citizens of Loreroot. This struck a chord with some people. This was because the situation in Loreroot was that of internal turmoil. Before the war, there had been incidents, and during the war it remained that way. This was partially because arguments went outside the realm and people of all sides would engage each other at all possible times. The bonds of friendship, like glue that kept Loreroot intact, were slowly dissolving. Friends turned on each other, throwing insults to and fro, trying to deceive and manipulate those who stood in the way.
The second reason was the situation surrounding MRD. The situation is not known to many, and that is partially because it relates to personal matters. From the views of many, I have distilled an observation that perhaps may not seem neutral at first, but it does hold the truth. Arguments and heated discussions between members of Loreroot and Golemus had cascaded into a full-blown vendetta. When moods turned ugly, MRD was jailed and that was the last straw for Yrthilian, he could not stand seeing a citizen of Golemus being treated in this way.
On the 9th April, Year 4, Yrthilian officially declared war on Greater Loreroot. The leader of the GG alliance ordered the other members to gather for orders, and the MR Fraternity naturally joined in the war, as it was their leader, MRD, who had been jailed.
Yrthilian’s reasoning for the war was simple. The jailing incident was but a symptom of a fractured Loreroot. While Lorerootian affairs were none of his business, he could not let it stand that a citizen of Golemus would be treated in such a way. He believed that Raven was a weak leader, unfit to rule a land that had offended a fellow and valued Golemus citizen. If Raven could not keep Lorerootians from breaking the peace between GG and Loreroot, then he would preemptively break it to ensure a better leader than Raven. The intent was to maintain a more stable Loreroot that would not be so quick in attacking Golemus citizens.
The declaration of war had sent shock waves through the entire realm. Lorerootian citizens had felt especially offended. They believed that Yrthilian was in the wrong for declaring war over a few bad apples. It had galvanized the Lorerootians, and they were quick to show that their front was united. But while this may have stopped the bonds of friendship from breaking, it did nothing to repair them.
After Yrthilian had declared war on Loreroot, the atmosphere within the land had seemed dismal and dreary. It was as if all the trees of Loreroot cast an even darker shadow. The situation worsened, even though most Lorerootians had set aside their differences to meet a common enemy. It had worsened because of low morale. The amount of Lorerootians who believed in victory were few. The main cause of this was because both the GG alliance and MR Fraternity were famous for their immensely strong fighters. Their strength came from both their study of rituals and sheer brute power.
But from the dark forests of Loreroot, an old and fondly remembered figure appeared and his appearance was like a beacon of hope to many. He was a warrior of great power, and while a bit rusty, he still had experience, a clear mind and sagely advice. It was the battle-scarred Knator Commander.
The war however, was lost before it began for Loreroot. And defeat came from the few Lorerootians who did not stop arguing in the face of a common enemy.
During a conference deep in Loreroot, where the council and citizens convened, the Knator Commander made an appearance, intent on inspiring the others to victory. The Knator Commander was old and he knew many secrets and hidden weapons that could help Loreroot.
As it was written in the AL: Page 121 [2008-07-11 19:09:41 - The Shade Balance - Wod. Kn.]
It was the Knator Commander himself who had founded the alliance to fight against the shades of Necrovion before the first war. Surely this legendary hero would succeed in making Loreroot victorious again.
But during the conference, Logan Marquis had stepped forward, as well. He was a citizen of merit, but none said he did not manipulate and argue with others. Logan Marquis had spoken about the Knator Commander in front of everyone. Logan Marquis stated that he was not needed, that he was old, useless, and that Loreroot, as it was, could handle the war. He argued that the Knator Commander had been gone for so long that he was no longer reliable. He denounced the Knator Commander.
The Knator Commander was deeply offended and realized that the old Loreroot he loved was very far away. Perhaps disillusioned, the Knator Commander retired his old heart, no longer able to help defend the Loreroot that had scorned him. This incident sent shock waves through the rest of MD, as well. Many neutral players and leaders of other alliances spoke of a scandal, realizing that there was something wrong in Loreroot.
The situation kept deteriorating because Loreroot did not only lose the help of the Knator Commander, they also lost control over the alliance of the Savelite Church. Grido had taken it through intricate espionage missions and knowledge of obscure rituals. Grido’s intent was to make sure that the Church would once again regain its former glory, from before Savelfuser had left. Grido, with the help of Zleiphneir, promised to give the alliance back after they had made sure that only the people capable of the task ahead would control the Church.
Raven, feeling the pressure from within, after already having met with disaster after disaster, even before any sort of battle had taken place, stepped down and resigned. Yrthilian was pleased and soon a ceasefire was agreed upon.
Peace had returned to the lands of MD, but many scars were left, as the fights were more personal than political. The war itself could not have been in more contrast to the first war. There were no real battles, most of the fighting was done on the forum. The war itself was quick and brutal; politics and ideology, so very important in the first war, were secondary to personal grudges and vendettas in the second war.
Guerilla Golemicarum and MR Fraternity were the victors and Greater Loreroot had lost in more ways than one. Loreroot, however, would later climb their way back, while other problems were stirring on the horizon for Golemus Golemicarum.
But peace had once again come to the lands of MD as the second war ended.
The third war that came to be in the lands of MagicDuel was the war between the alliances of Guerrilla Golemicarum and the Knights of the Bell against the alliances of the Necrovion Sentinels and the Children of the Eclipse.
The GG alliance was still led by Yrthilian, the long-time King of Golemus, victorious from previous wars. The Knights of the Bell was lead by Liberty, a strong player, but a relative newcomer to the higher political levels.
The leader of the Necrovion Sentinels was the newest leader of all the alliances: Jester, as his name suggested, was unpredictable at times. A strong and smart man was hidden underneath the facade. He was also the first leader who was not part of the Khalazdad dynasty.
The last leader of the warring alliances was Tarquinus, leader of the Children of the Eclipse. He was a wise gentleman, pious and steadfast.
The third war in the history of MD came relatively quick after the second. In less than half a year after the second war, the diplomatic situation in the realm had suddenly and drastically changed. It had changed because prince Marvolo, son of Khaladad, had voluntarily stepped down, to make place for Jester as the leader of the Necrovion Sentinels. But with the emergence of Jester as leader, there also came a dire warning. In his opening statement as the new leader, Jester proclaimed that the new Necrovion would not just defend their homeland as the Khalazdad dynasty had. Under his guidance, the Necrovion alliance would actively seek war.
The community was divided. Jester's followers flocked to Necrovion and expressed their support, while the citizens of the other lands could only try and show a strong and united force, alarmed at his desire for war. A few remained who expressed their sadness over the fact that Jester broke with the more peaceful path of the Khalazdad dynasty.
The average citizen of MD was still reeling from the previous war and, because of its personal nature, expressed their hopes and desires that such a personal war, filled with vendettas, would not happen again.
But it did nothing to distract from the fact that war would soon come again.
It finally came on the 20th of September in Year 4. Liberty officially declared war on the Necrovion Sentinels and the combined forces of the Knights of the Bell and Guerilla Golemicarum invaded the lands of Necrovion. The reasoning of both Liberty and Yrthilian was that they wanted to ensure peace in the realm of MD. And much like the previous war, they had preemptively struck out at their enemy.
They saw it as their task to defend the weaker lands and alliances and decided to make themselves the enemy of Necrovion. They were swift in making a foothold and were quick to capture Prince Marvolo, even though he was not part of the military alliance. Prince Marvolo was soon after released as the intent was to remove the war-like spirit of Necrovion, not harm the citizens.
But not everyone agreed with their reasoning. Most Lorerootians, mostly done with rebuilding from the last war against Golemus, saw in Yrthilian a warlike leader and was, for some, the primary target for vengeance. Jester agreed, stating that Yrthilian was once again trying to replace a leader he didn’t like, as he did with Raven.
Sic semper tyrannis! "Thus always to tyrants," were the words uttered and it was the embodiment of the public opinion that was turning against King Yrthilian and Liberty.
After the war, it was revealed that Yrthilian heard rumors, and information from his spies, that Jester’s war policy had initially targeted Loreroot. Yrthilian, perhaps repentant from the previous war, had wished to defend Loreroot, as he was partially responsible for sending Loreroot to the lowest it had ever been. But that was after the war, and it was hearsay.
The public opinion during the war however, had turned so badly against Yrthilian and Liberty, that a Lorerootian alliance, the Children of the Eclipse, had joined the war with Necrovion, against GG and the Knights of the Bell. The Savelite Church, sheltering Marvolo, had also sent reinforcements to Necrovion for the war effort in the form of strong soldiers, their bloodlust fueled by vengeance.
Peace, sister of Marvolo and daughter of King Khalazdad, through secretive espionage missions, had gained control over the GG alliance. It was seen as a small victory, but it did nothing to deter the warriors of the GG alliance to join the Knights of the Bell. But with the takeover, another incident had taken place. Wodin, long gone from his former glory, was now a summoned puppet, bound not to Yrthilian, but to the Alliance. Peace took control of Wodin and used him and his resources to help the Necrovion war effort. Peace said she would give back the alliance and Wodin to Yrthilian if her demands were met. Yrthilian refused and it was obvious the war would have to be decided on the battlefield.
The leaders of the warring alliances were more courteous to each other this time than the last. They had agreed to meet each other on the battlefield in Necrovion, with set a date and set rules. Strong fighters and young fighters all gathered and setup camp near the battlefield. Tactics and strategy were discussed and soon the hour was at hand. The Necrovions and CotE warriors were stationed at the Deathmarrow, while the KotB soldiers were anxiously waiting at the Caves of Torment.
Both armies marched toward each other and when the horn sounded and eyes had met, a great charge was given by both sides. When they met near the Gates of Despair, weapons clashed and creatures died. Arrows shot and people burned. And for the very first time, tokens and angiens were used in the fight with tremendous success. After the great clash, it became obvious that the GG alliance, especially without the help of the MR Fraternity, was no longer the strong and powerful alliance it used to be. The GG fighters, stationed in the KotB Bell alliance, and the KotB fighters as well, had been defeated, their blood seeping into the thirsty Necrovion land.
But it was a close fight, as all of the warriors of the CotE had given everything and only two powerful fighters of Necrovion remained. They were Pamplemousse, the Harbinger of Doom and Citrusy Wrath, and Ailith, the Berserker Babe with the Handbag of Peace.
But Yrthilian had one last plan. As Peace was in control of Wodin’s soul, so too was Yrthilian in control of Khalazdad’s soul. Khalazdad, when he was so very young, curious to the nature of Necrovion, had given the good half of his soul to Wodin, long before the first war had begun. A long time had passed and when Wodin was no more than a puppet, he gave the cube to Yrthilian in which was embedded the soul of Khalazdad.
Yrthilian had threatened to destroy Khalazdad's soul if the GG alliance was not given back. And as Yrthilian did not give in to Peace’s demands, so too did Peace not give in to his. And thus a gate was summoned on the battlefield. The victorious few stepped through and the defeated others, still healing, quickly went in, wanting to meet whatever peril would face them.
The scene that met their eyes was Yrthilian in the process of burning away the sides of Khalazdad’s cube.
The Necrovion Shades however, decided to come to the aid of their first human servant. They had summoned an enormous army with creatures and powers unknown to many, intent on killing Yrthilian. But confusion had taken hold of many fighters--enemies and allies alike. Some Necrovions started to attack the summoned army and a brave and powerful fighter on the side of GG, Shadowseeker, defeated it. The summoned army retreated through magic unknown and thanks to the confusion, Yrthilian succeeded in his task. He had destroyed enough sides of the cube that he could enslave Khalazdad’s soul. The Balanced King of Necrovion, half shade, half man, had become unbalanced and a servant once more.
Many things had happened in such a small amount of time. Alliances were taken, battle was given. Some say that Yrthilian and Liberty was tricked into a war, thanks to the rumor that Loreroot was Jester’s first target. But what happened next? After Yrthilian had enslaved Khalazdad’s soul, it was obvious that Necrovion and CotE had won a Pyrrhic victory. The war turned into a stalemate, no one side officially conceding defeat. But it would turn out that especially the GG alliance would lose the most, as public opinion had turned sour even in internal ranks.
The fourth war to come to the realm of MagicDuel was more unique than the previous three. First, the war only had one participating alliance, the Guerrilla Golemicarum alliance. It was the first civil war of the realm that occurred in a once-proud and strong alliance. Second, it is unique on its own because it happened immediately after the third war had slumped into a stalemate. It had started so fast that there was no time to finish the third war properly as no treaties had been signed.
Liberty, seeing his allies and his own soldiers falter, gave up and Jester was victorious, but at a costly price. But the enslavement of Khalazdad's soul did not only break the enemy's spirit, it was also considered as a loss by many others in the realm. The animosity of the first war had passed and many, if they did not love, surely did respect him; and if not him, then surely his offspring. The burning of Khalazdad's soul had turned the already public opinion against Yrthilian to a new low when another incident had occurred that had sparked the embers of the civil war.
On the 27th of September of Year 4, a mere three days after the great clash of armies of the third war, a mere three days after Khalazdad’s soul was enslaved, Yrthilian had exiled his Second in Command, Grido. And he was banned from both court and land. Was it paranoia? Or was it perhaps betrayal of the highest order? The true reasons were hidden from many. Few had known that, before the third war of GG and KotB against CotE and Necrovion, Yrthilian had planned on passing the GG alliance to Grido.
But the third war came nonetheless and to appear strong and to prevent internal instability, Yrthilian kept to the crown and the leadership of the alliance. With wanting to defend Loreroot, Yrthilian and Liberty invaded Necrovion, which subsequently made a Lorerootian Alliance, the CotE, join the fight against GG and KotB. Now, with Yrthilian holding on to the alliance to prevent instability, he had exiled his Second in Command. Over the course of hours after the proclamation of banishment, Grido moved to rally support for a new cause: to depose King Yrthilian from the throne.
Irony is not Yrthilian’s friend.
The reasoning behind the banishment was that Grido was planning to take the Necrovion Sentinels alliance after the Golemus alliance had been taken by Peace. But along with the arrival of Jester as the leader of the Necrovion alliance, came his supporters. And among those supporters were close friends, who Grido was unwilling to harm in such a way. Grido told Yrthilian of his plan, and of his reasons for not following through. Yrthilian, seeing this as betrayal, had thus exiled Grido.
Immediately after the banishment, Grido was invited to the Necrovion alliance by one of his friends. He declined, realizing that there was no need to betray the rest of his land by joining Necrovion, and so he rebelled against Yrthilian. Surely people would see that it was Yrthilian who had invaded lands, that it was he who forced Grido and others to fight against friends, that it was he who had burned the soul of a great man, and that it was he who was so paranoid that he exiled his own second in command, an indispensable asset to the land and alliance. Wodin’s relative weakness to most other strong fighters was blamed on Yrthilian as well, as it was he who was in control of his soul.
But it was not to be so. While Grido had acquired supporters, such as Metal Bunny, Emperor of the Bunny Empire, Grido knew he required more than just support to overwhelm Yrthilian. Grido and his supporters had appealed to the almighty Maker to undo his decision to make Yrthilian a King. A call to vote was issued, much like what happened when Raven had asked for the leadership of Loreroot, except the vote was held to depose Yrthilian, not elect him.
Much like the second war, there was no real battle. Thankfully, while there may have been vendettas, etiquette and manners were still upheld. The primary wages of this war were held on the forum, with each side convincing people to vote one way or the other. The third war was no more, as it was obvious that Liberty was morally supporting Yrthilian and the Necrovions were condemning Yrthilian's actions, but no actual actions significant to the third war were taken. That war did not end, it simply turned cold, as the fire in men and women had turned to burn for either Yrthilian or Grido. The third war of MD transformed into the GG civil war in just a few hours.
The votes were cast and it was the first time that such a vote was held. But the way the votes were counted had met with opposition. Everyone was allowed to vote: those who were neutral, enemies, or allies, People who had no relationship with GG and people who had been enemies of GG had their votes reduced in effect, but their votes were still counted.
Then there was the question of the merit of votes, as some votes had weighed more if they had better arguments. The content of the arguments, however, were scrutinized in a less intensive manner. The votes were counted and when viewed from different perspectives, such as GG citizens only, or acceptable arguments or even just the raw amount of votes, the outcome would change from a win or a loss for Yrthilian. In each aspect of the vote tally, it was a very close outcome. In the end, it was Grido’s side that had barely lost.
But the losing side was not content with the outcome. They debated the arguments that were for Yrthilian, as most of them simply stated that a king had the right to exile and nothing else. Grido’s side refused to admit defeat and maintained their revolution. And with help of a friend, it was successful enough.
Before the voting, Princess Peace had promised to return the GG alliance, regardless of the outcome of the vote. It was not specified, however, to whom she’d give it. Seeing as how it was Yrthilian who had enslaved her father’s soul, she naturally gave the alliance to the opposition on the 8th of October of Year 4. She did not mind, as she and many on Grido’s side were friends. As such, a new balance was obtained in Golemus Golemicarum.
On the one side was Yrthilian, who remained King of Golemus. But he had been estranged from his people, ostracized by neutrals and hated by his enemies for the deeds he had done. On the other side was Grido’s team, who had lost the vote, but had a firm grip on the alliance.
A cold war came into place, much like the end of the third war, and none ever admitted defeat.
New events took place so that no one would have to admit full defeat. The Era of the RPCs would soon end and while there were kings before, only now did elections take place for the other lands. Peace was voted Queen of Necrovion, reestablishing Khalazdad dynasty rule in Necrovion, as Jester resigned as alliance leader after his defeat. With Jester gone and Peace’s more peaceful approach, as well as friendly relationship with the GG Alliance, the stalemate of the third war ended in peace.
Lifeline became King of Marind Bell and Liberty slowly faded out of the picture, as the defeats on both the battlefield and the diplomatic field took their toll.
Firsanthalas became king of Loreroot, burdened with the arduous task of helping fellow Lorerootians to stabilize the land and its alliances and guilds.
The GG alliance formed the Second Triumvirate, consisting of Metal Bunny, Grido, and Burns.
It was in this situation the realm had entered a strange and eerie peace. It was mostly a cold war situation in the beginning, while other places were busy unifying and removing dissident voices. It was time that made some forget and put on a more friendly face, and that was all that was needed for some to be on speaking terms yet again.
The 4th year of MD had seen three wars, all of them started and ended within the length of the first war in Year 3. The Era of the RPC had also ended and the Age of Kings had begun in earnest.
We are now almost halfway through Year 5, who knows what time will bring?
People older than me (more than 60 days older, when they were playing):
Deetn: he was one of the oldest players, and was the first and only one to ever reach mp8.
Ugauga: he was one of the first ever Live Help Operators and a bug tester.
Steno: he was one of the first ever LHOs and helped advertise MD.
Actraiser: he was the primary force behind the daily calendar, having provided most of the information for the dates for the first months. He was also one of the first MP6s when it was in its testing phase. He also helped with the Archives.
STF: helped with the Archives and was an LHO, much like Actraiser; he also was also one of the first MP6s when it was in its testing phase.
Omegaweapon: he was the unofficial rival of BigC, and a master assassin; he was also considered as a renegade bug tester and was like a prototype of the current dst. He also was a strong player.
BigC: he was the strongest player for a very, very long time. He was also good at researching rituals and bugs and his actions influenced the realm, especially when his character got transformed into:
Wodin Ullr: he was one of the first RPCs and he was also the founder and long-time leader of the Guerilla Golemicarum alliance. With it, he fought the Necrovion Shades with great zeal and left a legacy powerful enough to win the war. He was the strongest fighter in his day, great analyser of rituals, teacher of many, and friend to more.
Phrog: he was the Firestarter, but also a gentleman knight and helped raise quite a bit of newbies. He helped in many aspects and was an RPC.
Chewett: a very old player, and helped the game to be what it is thanks to being the almighty forum overlord. Fear his hairy feet, as they will stomp on you if you mess with the forum! Angien researcher and helped found the Seekers of Enlightenment alliance. Still plays.
Muratus del Mur: …do I even have to say it? He is the Maker, the only thing here that truly is akin to an omnipotent Creator. He made the realm. Still plays.
By the way, muur is dutch for wall, and when you call him "Wallatus del Wall," he just smiles. So, whatever a Mur is, there is always a slight chance that it’s a wall.
You didn’t get this from me; I don’t want the inquisition at my house, because I’d never expect it.
Shoeps: he was the first and only GM, but he is infamous for being fired for misbehaving, mistreating players, and generally spewing curses.
Adi: helped Mur with setting up the realm by making clear and understandable texts as well as doing most of the poems and stories.
Valy: helped Mur with setting up the realm by making most of the pictures and scenes you see.
People slightly older, younger, or just as old as Metal Bunny (less than 60 days difference), when they were playing:
Metal Bunny: The Emperor of the Bunny Empire. I be Awesomeness. I still play.
Phlegmtheorem: he was a great puzzler and ritual fighter, and had great analyzing skills.
Sacosphilz: he basically had the same set of skills as Phlegmtheorem and both were great at solving the first riddles and were the first recipients of GG Drachorns.
Grido: he is the current boss of the LHOs and part of the Triumvirate of GG. He is engaged to Dst, but has an affair with Bubba who he met in prison. Still plays.
Jonn: he was the LHO boss before Grido and he helped with organizing and structuring many things, especially when it came to RPC organization. He was also an infamous, yet avid lover of gophers.
Yrthilian: he is the king of GG; he is a researcher and he has played an integral part in a great deal of GG’s history. Still plays.
Akasha: she is also a researcher and examined and analyzed a great deal of the Principles. Still plays.
Savelfuser: he was much like Metal Bunny, a strong player who grew up in the GG alliance under Wodin Ullr. He was part of the first Triumvirate along with Metal Bunny and Yrthilian. He left to be the first real MP6, to be a better RPC, and to manage his own church, the Savelite Church, based in Loreroot. He was good at it, having well over 100 worshipers and, combined with Metal Buny, who also had more than 100 worshippers, they had two-thirds of all the worshippers at one point in time.
Newbies, or people who are more than 60 days younger than me, when they were playing:
Nelya Setesh: she was renowned for making difficult puzzles. She also helped the Knator Commander organize the LR alliance and charged along with KC into the first war. Because the KC was only concerned with war, she became the first figurehead of Loreroot.
Calyx of Isis: she was an influential Lorerootian; she also founded and managed the first Dojo, helping newbies learning how to fight.
Dst: she, who used to be a he, is engaged to Grido. She is currently married to Peace. She is also a great ritual analyzer and renegade bug tester as well as being good at puzzles. She, along with No one, successfully managed a coup on all the alliances during the first war. If you have any questions, ask her, she loves helping out people. Still plays.
Knator Commander: he was one of the first ever RPCs. He founded the Loreroot alliance and was its greatest fighter for a long time. He fought with zeal with Wodin against the Shades of Necrovion. Is currently retired and likes to play violin.
Khalazdad: from being a young outcast, he quickly grew to be the first servant of the Shades and was the first to go into Necrovion. He was the first King of Necrovion and he was a great and influential man who was mortally wounded at the main battle of the first war, which subsequently turned him into a half-shade, half-man after healing attempts. His favorite quote: ’Fruit flies like a banana.’
Glaistig: she was a master spy, infiltrating the Loreroot alliance under Khalazdad’s orders during the first war. She helped organize many things, such as the MD newspaper. She was the first obstinate goat.
Eden: he was the first to exceed Wodin Ullr in profile stats, and later had helped with creature testing when he served Loreroot.
Cryxus: he was a pirate. Friend to many, he helped with important items and situations in GG. He got special pirate flags.
Alche: he was a researcher of principles. Found secret things and as a result, has a street named after him.
Bootes: he was also a researcher, but of the stars and the sky. Partially thanks to him, it was noted that MD, does, in fact, have a moon, and that all of us are actually continuously burning in the daylight.
Peace: she is the adopted daughter of Khalazdad and has, at certain points in time, as part of the Khalazdad dynasty, ruled Necrovion. Was integral in GG civil war and after, when she sacrificed herself for Necrovion. Still plays.
Lifeline: he was elected King of Marind Bell and has played important roles in the past. Still plays.
Awiiya: he was a great researcher and helped with the Archives a lot. Still plays.
Renavoid: he was the first Master Archivist and helped write several Adventure Log entries. Helped test many things and had written down many more. Occasionally plays.
SmartalekRJ: he was the Drachorn Master and a strong player. Occasionally plays.
Granos: he was generally considered as an evil person, having perpetuated, been caught, and put on trial for a crime. He likes to plot and scare people. Still plays.
Rex Umbrae Killer: he helped test bugs, but then was fired as RPC for not telling how to replicate or fix them. During his trial, he was judged guilty and was stoned.
Gargant: he founded the MD Newspaper after the idea was suggested on the forum.
Udgard: he was one of the first people with the ability to create items.
Ailith: she is the Berserker Babe with the Handbag of Peace. She is noted for being friendly and helping people. She was a neutral arbiter and, as such, has helped with many disputes. Still plays.
Pamplemousse: she is the Harbinger of Doom and Citrusy Wrath, a strong player who has helped many others. She was the Master Archivist after Renavoid stepped down. Still plays.
Burns: he was a strong player and an LHO with great knowledge about rituals. He is also part of the current Triumvirate of GG and, as a student of Phrog, he is a knightly gentleman. Still plays.
Firsanthalas: he is the king of Loreroot and is the Muffin Master. He was important for the rebuilding period of Loreroot after its wars. Still plays.
No one: he was Dst’s accomplice during the masterful plot of taking over all the alliances. He is a good ritual and bug researcher. Still plays.

Braiton: he was either brave, or dumb enough, to experiment with drachorns. As a result of his twisted mind, he eventually had created a mutated wind drachorn. He likes to play guitar, too.
Raven: he was an influential Lorerootian, at one point being a figurehead. He had asked for the title of Archon of Loreroot, effectively making him king. He failed due to internal pressures and the second war. He was a strong player with a great deal of knowledge.
Cutler: he was a strong player, with great knowledge of the ethereal. He had created the Astral Plane, a dimension akin to MD, in which people could wander, explore and puzzle. Still plays.
Rendril: he was the first to be chosen by Mur to help with creating and improving the realm. Still plays.
