Are you playing with words? Magic changes, of course. There is traditional magic and modern magic. People always use it, just that they find different words to name it.
<Question: ok, what’s the difference between them?>
[at Muratus’ request, the transcriptionist split the lecture at this point]
Last things discussed refer to types of magic, and it’s officially another lecture.
Modern-day magic, then.
Note that I will hold another lecture on this soon, so I won’t cover it all now. Want a break, or me [to] move on?
[A break is called]
I will talk about magic in our days, but just a small, small part of this, because the subject is HUGE.
Magic was always combined with illusion for [the] best effect. Just a small bit of true magic could be presented as a huge thing if used right. In these days, magic is used under several "excuses", people that use it present it as psychological effects, or as autosuggestion, or some celebrities [such] as David Blaine love to still pretend it’s all a trick... Because the church hunted down the very concept of magic, the word now can make a man be considered crazy, delusional, a fraud, or even trigger violent reactions from people. Therefore, the uses of magic have been covered under other things.
Magic is actually no dark secret that you must find inside a mysterious place and learn some ancient language to use it...no way. The hundreds of years of war against magic made it look so. Why this war? Simple: the need of control and power by the church or any other religious power. But that’s not the topic, so back to magic in modern days.
I will show you an example of such magic, but in a modern form; I hope this will make it more clear for you what magic really is, because if you stop thinking about magic as some sort of untouchable technique, you will see it’s everywhere around you. Even a loving hug is magic; it protects you from curses. [smile]
So, consider how [the following] would have been interpreted if not explained and also a few hundred years ago ... think about that....and you will see it’s about magic...
Who knows what NLP is?
NLP is neuro-linguistic programming. It’s how you can program PEOPLE.
Please look at this video. It’s not a fake; it’s modern-day magic explained in scientific terms ... because if anybody uses word MAGIC people start to be skeptical.
This would be a way to do [an] invisibility spell.
[see also]
Try that in a shop, and people will look at you like you are crazy.
Ok, so back to our lecture:
Now, you can easily see how such a thing could be considered pure magic long ago. Now, the modern man tells himself, HA, I know it’s not magic, its hypnosis, blah, blah, blah. The thing everybody gets wrong in this picture is that this is magic, too ...yes, it’s hypnosis, too. We fear the word magic so damn much that we find excuses when we see it. We find different names for it.
Feeling someone’s signature and knowing he is sick is something a lot of people do, yet if you tell them this is magic, they say you are crazy... NLP is a breed of magic, too. [There’s] nothing supernatural involved to it; magic is not supernatural, because it’s natural.[laughs] The definition of magic is what got shifted over time. We tend to think of magic as of something not real by definition.
<Interjection: Besides that, just a quote, any sufficiently examined science is indistinguishable from magic>
Yes, exactly.
And I must add here that this misconception about magic exists only because of the Church.
<Question: Mur, what do you define magic as?>
Magic is not a word.Magic is NOT a word...the fact that it has a word assigned to it makes it weak and weird. It was taken from people and hidden behind a word. When people were doing "magic" as a common way of living, it had no such word.
<interjection: all concepts are assigned words, if only to be able to communicate more easily.Words may constrain and weaken, but they're essential.>
When you refer to black people as negroes …you do not use the word to easily refer to them…you use it to separate them from the rest ...why you don’t speak about us "white" people?I don’t hear people speaking about white people.
Ok, back on track, the worst thing that happened to magic was to get a name.Magic is NOT _one_ thing. That’s why, if you put it all together in one pot, you sacrifice all its aspects if one fails. So as soon as you take out the illusion part of magic and put it in front, you can destroy the whole concept of what magic is.
There are multiple forms of magic. People will always face one of them eventually. And because "magic" is somehow banned, they find another word for it to take it out of the "magic" stigmata.
For example, NLP...it’s not magic…you saw it working, you understood it, then you take it out of [the] magic definition. You see my point here?Any of the modern technology would have been considered magic a hundred of years ago.
<Interjection: all concepts are the same.>
Not true.Concepts can’t be the same."Magic," as most people understand it, is a tainted concept.
<Question: what is your definition of magic?>
What magic really is can’t be referred to with one word.I say that because inside the word 'magic' you find many definitions, [and] some of them are damaging to the entire concept.
<Question: Could you mention some of these definitions, please?>
Think about it... witchcraft, tricks, paranormal… all [of] it’s inside magic.Things that actually hide other less obvious occurrences of magic. It’s like when you know someone is a liar, you won’t believe anything else he is saying even when he is not lying. The problem with this is that not understanding all the aspects of magic, you will never manage to learn it, because to learn magic is actually to better understand things that are already happening in your life and around you.And if you look at these words: "learn magic" ...you see something like "I want to learn to do spells."And it’s wrong.
<Interjection: like I said, magic is just the unknown.>
Not always. I would say magic is an "unknown" with a certain flavour. And to understand its secrets you must first look to the "known" part of magic, but unfortunately that part is hidden and lost under other names in modern days. Ask.
<Question: are there any specific examples you can give?>
Yes: the one I gave today.Of course there are LOTS of others.Anywhere you look, there is something to help you get deeper into what magic is.
<Interjection: following that train of thought, everything is a form of magic.>
In a way, yes. There are different levels of understanding and using magic, so don’t confuse teleportation with a minor illusion trick. But basically, they are all on the same path, made out of [the] same bricks, so to say.
<Question: Would say...the power of positive thinking be such a thing?>
That’s also a name given to something to pull it out of the stigmata of magic and make it accepted by most.I can take almost any minor magic and explain you its uses on an advanced level so that you can see that common-day things can be related to advanced magic things. Then you understand it’s just a difference of level, but it’s actually the same thing on a different scale.
The fact that you put your hand to your mouth when you yawn, for example.Do you know what history it has?
<Answer: The soul leaving the body.>
Yeah, or evil souls entering it.That’s fucking magic for me.

The first thing is hard to understand: that magic itself isn't the thing we learned to be 'good'. For an example: Whenever a child go to school, he/she will learn the ways of our life. Technically that you must be communicative (share your problems and the things you don't understand with others, and don't even try to think about it's true or false on your own...), so to say he/she 'have to be' someone whose toughts are accepted by the community. If he/she isn't became the one we accept (thinking in other ways than normal - i call this "Magical thinking"), then he/she is crazy, psychyc or just childish. There's only one form that the community accepts as the kind of "Magical thinking", we named it "belief".<Interjection> I could have call it fear. That's why most of us fear to be alone, and a fev more ugly things we 'fear' came from this kind of teaching of the whole community. It's just sad... Anyways there was huge "thinkers" such as Einstein who was actually tought Magical, and he fought with the community to accept his toughts. Secondly we are asking the wrong questions or incorrect questions in incorrect sequence about the borders. Usually we ask firstly that: "Where they ends?" But who could answer that question? Would be none.
What if we ask: "If we say the borders are endless, then what makes the difference between all of the magical forms?". Answer could be: US. The way we see this subject. I very much agree that magic isn't parts of things we can name (like witchcraft, illusion, trick and so on...). Magic is a whole. Only we want to tare it to small pieces to understand it, becouse we don't know a better way to understand things we dont know (witchcraft, illusion, trick is one and the same things).
