The Sun that Never Sets

The Sun that Never Sets

Let us begin by Explaining how it is the Sun is always in the sky, and how I believe it has, and always will be in the sky (hence the Title the “Sun that Never Sets”).

Many have proposed that the Lands we know are located right on the Axis of Rotation of our planet (the Line around which the Planets rotation Occurs), and that this line points towards the Sun. Though feasible, this would require the Axis itself to Rotate so that as the Planet moves around the Sun. Though the Idea of Precession, the “wobble” of an Axis of rotation (easily seen in a spinning Top), makes this possible it requires complex equations to Describe and is generally very Chaotic.

I propose that Tidal Locking is the cause of this Phenomenon. Tidal Locking is the reason why the Earth’s Moon always the same face pointing at the Earth. In short the Idea is that the Body which is Tidal Locked Rotates once in the same Time it Orbits its “parent” body. In terms of the Magic Duel world, this would mean that a “Day” (one Spin of the planet about its Axis) is the same time period as a Year (the Orbit around the Sun). In this Model the MD Planet’s Axis does not Wobble so frantically, and it more Stable. In the interest of Simplicity I highly suggest we accept the Idea of Tidal Locking over a Wobbling Axis.

So the Lands were we live just so happen to be constantly facing the Sun. This of course suggests that there is a part of our world that is in Constant Darkness, and we will discuss this Realm in more detail later. This also suggests that Night was not caused by the Sun setting, and that the Motion we see in the Sun is not an Apparent Motion (an Illusionary motion, caused by our own Movement) and thus the Sun is in fact Moving in space.

  1. A Perception of Relativity.

I have looked into this and as far as I can tell it is a matter of perception. The sun appears to move little or not at all on account of that our axial rotation nearly matches our circumfrencial rotation. This gives the appearance that it is moving little or not at all. Image if I was to strafingly run around you. I would always be facing you making it appear that neither of us have really moved at all or at least not very much.

The moons fair presence is equally explainable in this fashion. If a center object is causing a nearby object spin around the central object than the affected object will move the same speed, but over a longer distance there by making it appear to move slower. Take for instance a whirlpool. The inside and outside move nearly the same speed. The inside though is moving in such a small area that it makes a full circle in what appears to be less time. This of coarse differs based on what the object is. A tire, being a solid object is going to force the outer edge to match the rotation there-by increasing its speed. Versus the whirlpool whose inside speed and outside speed are more closely matched because that what ties them together is more flexable in its own nature.

So in all. We rotate the sun in a manner that we are always facing it, while the moon moving only slightly slower than us appears to have gone away, but is simply on our darkside slowly making its way back around to us in time.
